Portland Bill is an excellent meeting spot for fitness enthusiasts especially walkers and cyclists. The Rodwell Trail is a very convenient route to start your journey from Weymouth as this takes you to Ferrybridge in Wyke Regis, a distance of 3.5 kilometres. The trail, opened in the year 2000, travels along the former route of the Weymouth and Portland Railway and is part of the South West Coastal Path. From there you can use the cycle path to Portland and then follow the signs for Portland Bill.
Constructed in 1906, it is one of the few lighthouse towers in the UK that can be accessed by the public as it is land based. Organised tours for the public are available between April and October.
